(no subject)

Ugh, I'm so fucked. I have to turn in an outline for a speech tomorrow, but I can't come up with a topic! (much less an outline.) It's supposed to be informative (as opposed to persuasive) and 5-6 minutes long. It would be easiest to do something I know about, but everything I know about is LAME and EMBARRASSING. I'm not about to go up and deliver five minutes on Jeremy Sisto. Haha.

I actually think that Twitter would be a good subject, but I continue to be mystified by it. Maybe I could BS an outline and then educate myself in the next week? :-/

Ideas? I feel like there must be something out there that's really obvious that I'm just not thinking of.

(If anyone cares, I am not watching SPN tonight. Maybe tomorrow night? I watched Bones, though. It was... alright. I had some minor issues with it.)

haha... well, I've never been accused of being shy or self conscious so you're probably right that I just didn't care all that much about what other people thought of my ideas. I was just in it for my A. I had more important classes to worry about - liked advanced organic chemistry and differential equations. Speech wasn't a priority but I decided to have as much fun with it as I could. I made pizza, talked about important women in chemistry, and I gave a speech on creative writing even though I was a chemistry/mathematics major. I remember the class being really confused by this. *shrugs* I say again, I'm a walking contradiction of myself. LOL.

I think I might actually like to hear your speech on Twitter... because I don't get it. All I know is I sigh with exasperation and skip the posts when half my f-list is filled with twitter posts where only the people involved have any idea what is being said. Knowledge is power. Maybe you could inform the masses. :)

Being into creative writing and being into chemistry/math isn't contradictory! I think we (society) kind of set them up as separate and opposite and figure that everybody should be good at just ONE of them, but obviously it makes more sense to be good at both, right? It makes you well-rounded. (Aaaand pizza is creative AND involves chemistry, so. It UNITES US ALL.)

I will e-mail you a copy once I've written it. I totally agree with you that it's annoying when people import their twitter posts to LJ. I only ever had a couple people on my flist who did it and they haven't for a while, fortunately.

I completely agree that creative writing and math/chemistry isn't contradictory but society deems otherwise. I actually think the surprise from my speech class came because most of them were English majors who (self-admittedly) sucked at math. So, they were either astounded or offended that someone would be good at math AND able to write creatively. But the mix of both made for some really interesting speeches in the class. LOL.

And thank goodness it's not just me who gets annoyed with the twitter posts. I only have three people on the list but there for a while every other post they made was a twitter post. I didn't want to be rude because they are my friends but at the same time, I wanted to ask them "you do know that none of us know what you're talking about, right?" There haven't been any twitter posts for a while. I won't lie. I like it. LOL.
