I liked it!
Don punched the dude and he really fucking deserved it. Asshole. *ahem* So yeah. I think that even if the rest of the episode had been crap, that would've made up for it. Fortunately, the rest of the episode was really good as well, and the punch was just icing on the cake. Very, very nice icing.
Okay, confession time: I don't like Alan. I feel bad about this. I kind of liked him in season one. But not really in S2 or so far in S3. He has his moments, but last week was very Alan-centric and I hated that. However, this week Alan was in Oaktown (representin'! Oh God, I'm so white) so we didn't see him at all, andthat fucking bitch Millie wasn't around either, so the cast was great. I didn't even mind Amita being around, although her comments about Charlie never having anything out of his reach made me a little uncomfortable; I feel like I need to think about them a little longer, figure out how I feel.
Don is my favorite character (OMG, did you see when he PUNCHED the guy??) but Colby is fast becoming my second favorite. That little exchange between him and Charlie,
Charlie: "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Colby: "...No."
was hilarious and very cute. And then his little face when Megan was all, "We?" N'awww, Colby! He's adorable.
David was good, especially when he was talking that guy down from the ledge (of course, Colby had to steal the scene with his, "David, apologize to the man for saving his life,") but before my mind exploded with Colby-love I remember being impressed with David. Overall in the series I've never been that into David. I find him kind of boring, to be honest. But he's likable, certainly. And he has his moments, too. More often than Alan, certainly.
Larry. Hm. I think the space thing is cool. I was spoiled for it, so it wasn't a surprise or anything. I thought it was kind of a lame excuse for the weirdness that's been going on, though. Like, oh, preparing to go into space means you can't live in a house? Riiight... that makes... sense. :-/
Ah, but speaking of that, the scene with Don, Charlie, and Amita? I loved it. If Amita is going to be Charlie's girlfriend, I want to see moments like that, her eating with them, and him kissing her goodbye like he did at another point. Plus, the Charlie, Don, and Amita dinner fueled my Don/Amita fantasies a little bit. (Which, by the way, why isn't there more of? Sometimes I really regret how slash-oriented this fandom is, much as I love it. I would love to find more really good Don/Terry and Don/Amita.) When Megan and Larry came in, though, I felt a little bad for Don. He seemed like the fifth wheel, kind of. (Perhaps Liz will be back soon? Mm, I hope so. I have mentioned how hot they are together, yeah?)
Mm, now I want to see/read Don telling Liz about the punch scene.
"Fuckin' asshole sticks out his hand, says your country thanks you," Don went on, almost shaking in anger. Liz squeezed his arm and he paused, relaxing slightly under her touch.
"So what did you say?" she prompted quietly.
"I didn't say anything," he scoffed. He looked at her and smiled bitterly. "I punched him in the fuckin' face, what else?"
Liz didn't respond, just stared at him for a minute, before leaning forward and pressing a kiss to his lips. When she pulled away she was smiling. "Good for you. The guy sounds like a real asshole. He deserved it."
"Yeah, well, I thought so," Don muttered.
Don kills people a lot. A while back I counted it up (I think it was 4?), but since the third season's started I haven't been keeping track, and honestly, I'm not sure I can remember the episodes well enough to figure it out. I'll try, though. Probably tonight when I'm trying to go to sleep. :-) Everytime he kills someone we get a flash of dark!Don and the potential for, you know, sitting in the dark drinkingscotch beer. Which I'm all over. That's one of my favorite Dons. That and happy!flirty!Don, like he was with Liz a couple episodes ago. So, I guess... extreme!Don of any sort. :-)
Um. Plot? It was cool. Government conspiracy's always good. There were a few moments I found slightly confusing, I think, but overall I got it. For once. Heh. I don't know what else to say, really, other than this was definitely one of my very favorite episodes this season.
Oh! I loved the exchange between Megan and Larry at the end--his romantic declaration of, "My heart will remain with you," and her wry response, "While you're in a spaceship with three other guys? Yeah, I'd hope so." Hee!
Also, I went to see "Let's Go to Prison" earlier with my sister. It was okay. There were certainly some funny parts, but I felt like the laughs were kind of few and far between. We both love Will Arnett, so we enjoyed it. But it wasn't great, by any means.
Erm, LJ just confused me. Hopefully this will post okay?
