She doesn't have to use the mace, because the code word works and her back-up bursts in at exactly the right moment, guns drawn and handcuffs at the ready, but her heart is racing and her shirt is ripped and she leaves a shoe behind when an agent rushes her out of the room, making her stumble, unbalanced, at his side. He asks if she's okay and she nods and he leaves her on a bench at the end of the hall, so she takes off her other shoe and sits there, four inches shorter and breathing in deeply.
