Rain and mud are splashed all over Charlie's clothes, and his hair is dripping onto his nose and shoulders, but he can't stop grinning even when Don comes up beside him to sling a damp arm around his neck.
"You ruined my experiment," Charlie says. "You made us splash right through it!"
Don laughs.
"That's not a proper form of observation," Charlie insists.
"I know that," Don says, and pulls him in closer. He brushes Charlie's hair back out of his face. "But it's a lot more fun. You ready for a shower?"
"Oh." Charlie pauses. "Now I get it."
